Need Award Booking Help?

The Miles Genie has an award booking service to help you get the best possible value out of your points and miles.

You can find pricing info and the form to get started below.

Due to high demand and my current workload, I’m unable to take on any new requests at this time (thank you all!).

I’m also closing the waiting list until further notice. If you’re already on the list, we will review your request and you will hear from us soon. If you’re already scheduled for a zoom meeting, it’s still on.

The booking service has been something I’ve wanted to try almost since starting the blog over 5 years ago. I have really enjoyed it, but I simply do not have the bandwidth to continue at this time. I appreciate all of the business so much.

This blog and my TikTok account aren’t going anywhere, though! As much as I love helping people book some champagne trips on a beer budget, I love writing and making content more. I want to get back to consistently producing new blog posts, long form guides on all things award travel, and video content. In order to do that, I need to free up some time for the rest of 2022. The only way to do that is to stop taking award booking requests. As of right now, I plan to bring it back in 2023. I’ll update here once I’m at a point where I feel like I can at least open a waiting list.

If you have any questions, email me through the contact form. I may be able to schedule a consultation here and there.

In the meantime, I have hundreds of blog posts with several ways to redeem miles and points, and many have step by step instructions. If you’re willing to put in a little time, I encourage you to learn how to do this. It is so worth it in the long run. All of my blog posts are free and if you’re trying to book something yourself but get stuck or just have a question, contact me.

Thank you for your understanding and patience. I sincerely appreciate all of the business.

NOTE: The way I maximize Chase, Amex and other transferable currencies is by using their airline transfer partners. Being able to use these airlines means award seats (usually saver seats to be more specific) must be available to book with miles. I know which partners to check for the best redemption rates and I constantly pay attention to availability patterns.

What I am unable to do is make more award seats available. There is nothing that The Miles Genie LLC or any other award booking service can do to create more award space.

How much money will this save me?

It’s tough to say because a lot of people, myself included, wouldn’t actually be paying for these business class seats. So I think of it more in terms of maximizing the value of my hard earned points. But if you’re the type that does pay for business class, even better. This can absolutely save you money.

Here are a few ways to look at it:

It is not unheard of for a roundtrip business class ticket to Europe to cost $5,000 or more. Let’s say you have 500,000 Amex Membership Rewards points. If I’m able to help you book a $5,000 ticket for about 125,000 points and less than $200 in taxes and fees, I’d say that’s a pretty good use of the fee you’ll pay me (pricing info below).

Another way to look at it is 125,000 points at would only be worth $1250 towards flights. I help you maximize your points by using transfer partners and leveraging airline partnerships.

Here are your alternatives:

  • pay $5,000
  • redeem your points at a less than stellar value (Booking through instead of using the transfer partner method I use would require 500,000 points if the ticket is $5,000)
  • don’t book business class
  • learn how to use transfer partners (which to be clear, I highly encourage, and I have several free blog posts teaching you how to do so! This booking service exists because some people simply don’t have the time to learn, and that’s okay too)

We will send an email to confirm your parameters and make sure we’re on the same page prior to collecting ANY fees.

Search fee: $40 for up to 2 passengers. $50 for 3 or more passengers. This is not refundable.

Why is there a nonrefundable search fee? Searching for award space takes time and expertise. This fee compensates us for the time spent searching should you choose not to move forward with the booking.

If we do not find an itinerary that meets your given parameters (which is rare), this fee is still nonrefundable, however, you can request another booking within 3 months and we’ll waive this fee

Booking fees:

This payment is due before I release the booking instructions/schedule a call.

Pricing is subject to change, but any changes in pricing will be communicated prior to your deposit (the nonrefundable search fee).

These fees do not include the taxes and fees that are imposed by the airline program with which you book.

Roundtrip award tickets (or two one ways) for up to 2 passengers: $200

The search fee is applied to this, so for example, with 2 people booking a roundtrip flight: you’ll pay $40 for the search, and then we will collect $160 before scheduling the booking call.

If you’re booking for 3 passengers, the booking fee is $300. Each additional passenger is $100.

See the “Booking your ticket” section below for more information.

For multi-city and complicated itineraries, I’ll provide a custom quote prior to collecting your search deposit.

Again, these are our fees. Airlines may also collect change and cancellation fees and you will be responsible for these.

For voluntary changes on tickets The Miles Genie LLC assisted with booking, the rebooking fee is generally going to be $75. I cannot guarantee that I’ll be able to find award space on your new dates and/or route.

For involuntary changes (changes made by the airline), airlines may able to accommodate you on another acceptable itinerary. If not, I’ll work with you to try to find an acceptable outcome. Additional fees may be required by The Miles Genie LLC and/or the airline.

You can find more info and FAQs at the bottom of this page.

Are you wanting to book one of these routes?

I have had to decline about 25% of recent requests that I have received.  Of course I want the business, but I am not going to collect a deposit if I am not confident I can deliver. I review every request and if I do not think I can find seats on flights that fit your parameters based on the types and amounts of points/miles you have, I will let you know prior to collecting any fees.

I’ve received an overwhelming amount of requests for the following routes in business class*:

*If you are wanting to book economy, award availability is not as tough.  But using the booking service to book economy flights may not be worth it.

Continental US to Hawaii in business class

This has always been a tough one.  Even if you are booking far out and have flexible dates, airlines simply do not release many business class seats to Hawaii.  This is likely due to demand.  There are so many customers willing to pay for business/first to Hawaii, so of course airlines would rather sell the seats. They really have no incentive to make saver seats available (I have several recent tiktok videos with more info on award seat availability if you are interested).

US to New Zealand or Australia in business class

Finding business class saver seats to Australia and New Zealand has always been a bit of a challenge, even pre-pandemic.  There are already a limited number of nonstop routes from the US.  In the past, it was a little easier to find something if you’re willing to transit or stopover in another country.  But post-pandemic searches for Australia and New Zealand have been extremely frustrating.  First of all, not all routes have returned, so we do not have many options (although AA is launching a nonstop DFW to Auckland route, so fingers crossed they’ll at least open a couple business class award seats here and there).  Also, pent up demand for these routes has made it extremely difficult to find saver business class seats.  It’s certainly not impossible, but if you’re tying to book New Zealand or Australia in business class, the best chances of finding availability is booking very far in advance, being flexible with travel dates, and being flexible with routing.

Holiday travel (Christmas and New Years)

This one is pretty obvious but everyone wants to book vacations during holidays.  It’s definitely possible to book award travel during holidays.  Our family has done it several times.  But you will likely need to book far in advance, and you will probably need to be flexible by a day or two.

How does this award booking service work?

Once you fill out the form and your parameters, we review it and make sure this is worth your money and our time. For example, if it is clear to me that the type or amount of miles and points you have is not going to work for what you want to book, I will not collect any payments. I might even be able to make suggestions to achieve what you want by opening a new type of card.

If your request is something that is possible, I’ll have you review the parameters once again and we will exchange any other necessary details prior to initiating the search. After that, you will need to read and agree to the terms and conditions and I’ll collect a nonrefundable fee to initiate the search process.

I’ll present any feasible options within your parameters. Since award availability can change in a matter of hours or even minutes, it is very important that I’m able to contact you and that you’re prepared to book as soon as possible. If you accept any of the options I present, I’ll collect the final fee and assist you with completing the booking.

Booking the ticket

The toughest part of award travel is finding the award seat availability, which is what I can do while you go about your life.

Due to the issues that can arise with multiple logins, 2 factor authentication, and for your own security, it is nearly impossible for me to finalize the booking without you. But I’m here to help you get it done as quickly and efficiently as possible! I’ve found that the most efficient way to do this is either over the phone or on a Zoom/web meeting.

I may be able to expedite the process by sending step by step instructions for things such as setting up any needed frequent flyer accounts, etc, prior to our call. The booking consultation itself usually will not take more than 20-30 minutes because by that point, I will have already done the hard part (searching).

What if I need to make changes?

For voluntary changes on tickets The Miles Genie LLC assisted with booking, the rebooking fee is generally going to be $75 since we will need to perform another search and schedule another consultation. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to find award space on your new dates and/or route. Again, these are our fees. Airlines may also collect change and cancellation fees and you will be responsible for these.

For involuntary changes (changes made by the airline), airlines may able to accommodate you on another acceptable itinerary. If not, we will work with you to try to find an acceptable outcome. Fees may be required.

Why is the search fee higher for more than 2 passengers if it’s the same flight?

Because finding multiple seats on one flight is more work.

The more seats you need, the more difficult and time consuming it is on our end to search!

Why is there a waiting list?

There may be times when we cannot take on any new bookings. When that happens, we will update the very top of this page and you’ll be able to get on the waiting list.

Searching for award space is time consuming. Before we ever officially launched the service, we had an overwhelming amount of inquiries (thank you all!).

We quickly realized that in order to give the level of service we strive to provide, we are going to have to limit the amount of requests we can take on each week. When we are able to take on any new bookings, those on the waiting list will get first dibs. We will contact you by email. If we do not hear back from you in 48 hours, we continue to move down the list and cancel your request. But you’re welcome to fill out the form again at any time.

We appreciate your patience.
