DoorDash is a meal delivery service that has been a game changer for us. We’re big fans of meal delivery services, but they’re now more important than ever.

Just like any other food delivery service, there are normally delivery fees with DoorDash. There is a way to receive free deliveries on eligible orders, though!

If you’re worried about safety, the following statement can be found on DoorDash’s website: “The U.S. FDA has stated that there is no evidence of food or food packaging being associated with the transmission of COVID-19, but we remain vigilant in our actions to promote health and safety on our platform and to support Dashers.”

No-contact delivery is now the default option

“Starting this week, we’re changing the default delivery method to a no-contact option to minimize contact between Dashers and customers. With this update, “Leave it at my door” will be the default drop-off option, and customers will have the choice to select “Hand it to me” if they prefer. We have also advised Dashers that they may initiate a no-contact delivery at any time by reaching out to the customer with a call or text message to confirm.”

How to order DoorDash with $0 delivery fees

If you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card, you will receive a free DashPass subscription for at least 12 months. At $9.99 per month, this is a value if ~$120!

Complimentary DashPass from DoorDash

DashPass is a subscription offered by DoorDash that is normally $9.99 per month. You’ll receive free deliveries in orders from eligible restaurants. Service fees and minimum subtotals may apply. If it’s available in your area, I can’t recommend DashPass enough.

How to activate your complimentary DashPass

Download the app. Receive up to $15 ($5 off your first 3 orders) when you sign up with this link.

After downloading the mobile app, you must add your Chase Sapphire card as a payment method. You will then be prompted to activate your complimentary DashPass subscription.

You must activate by December 31, 2021. Subscription begins and ends based on when the user activates on the DoorDash mobile app.

Currently, minimum order amount to receive the $0 delivery fee benefit is $12

Earn $750 worth of travel plus one year of DashPass

The current welcome bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card is 60,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

To earn the points, you must spend $4,000 in the first 3 months. For ideas to meet the minimum spending requirement, click here.

Earn 2 points per dollar on travel and dining, and 1 point per dollar on all other purchases. The annual fee is reasonable at $95, but the welcome offer alone is worth a lot more than that. Also, you’ll receive a year of DashPass (normally $9.99 per month) for free.

You can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards to 10 different airline frequent flyer programs or 3 different hotel loyalty programs. You can also redeem the points through the Chase Ultimate Rewards redemption portal. Each point can be redeemed for 1.25 cents. That makes the welcome bonus of 60,000 Ultimate Rewards points worth $750!

If you’re looking for a premium travel card, the Chase Sapphire Reserve also comes with the complimentary DashPass membership. You’ll also receive $60 in 2020 and $60 in 2021 with this card. You can find more details about the CSR on our current credit card offers page.

Final Thoughts

We may not be able to travel right now, but there are other credit card benefits that may be valuable during these crazy times.

In fact, 2 other cards come to mind for food delivery services:

Uber Eats

The Uber credits that you receive with The Platinum Card from American Express apply to Uber Eats. With the Amex Platinum Card, you receive $200 annually in Uber statement credits. That’s $15 per month, with an extra $20 in December.
