Get 20% off on Amazon purchases this weekend!
I just realized we’re almost out of diapers. Normally I would use a shopping portal to buy these to earn more points/miles. But, I need the diapers today, and they are eligible for free same day delivery! Ryan is at work so I’m not about to take 3 kids to the store by myself if I don’t have to. Anyway, I logged on to my Amazon.com account and saw that this promotion is back!
If you have an American Express Membership Rewards earning card, log in to your Amazon account and register for this promotion! Act fast because this offer ends on Monday night (October 23, 2017).
I’ve seen Amazon run this promotion a few times and it’s a great way to save money on things you need anyway! According to the terms of this promotion, you can do this for multiple orders up to a savings of $50. Once you reach $50 in savings, the discount will no longer apply.
How this Amazon/Amex pay with points offer works:
First of all, you must have an Amex card that earns Membership Rewards. So the Amex Starwood card will not work for this.
Click the yellow ‘Click here to activate’ button (see pic above).
You must pay for at least part of your purchase with Amex points to qualify for 20% off. By part, they mean 1 point! So you can use 1 Membership Reward point to pay and then pay the rest on your card. When you get to the payment page, select your Amex Membership Rewards earning card as your payment method. An option to pay with points will show. Type in ‘0.01’ which is equal to one point.
Your order summary will reflect your 20% discount!
The $2.00 coupon was just a random savings on the diapers. Nothing to do with this promotion.
Note that you can use more points to pay, but why would you want to do that? Buying gift cards and paying with points is almost never a good idea. Your points are most valuable when transferred to airline and hotel programs.
What purchases qualify for 20% off?
Anything that is sold by Amazon. In other words, it must say ‘sold by Amazon.com’ or sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC’ on the product page. So items sold by a third party are not eligible.
If you have an Amex Membership Rewards earning card and need to make some Amazon purchases, this is a no-brainer! Don’t forget to sign up for the email list and follow on Facebook and Instagram @themilesgenie so you never miss a deal!
Have a great weekend!
